THE FORMATION OF THE ASSOCIATION
After receiving the first Motoha Yoshin Ryu Menkyo Kaiden in 2012, I have seen a reduction in the techniques taught by Yasumoto Soke with teaching reduced to only to the published curriculum, with not only the number of techniques being decreased, but also Yasumoto Soke stopped teaching internal aspects and giving real transmissions of the secret practices and knowledge.
The idea of this association was born from a desire to preserve, share and foster the original Motoha Yoshin Ryu Jujutsu as Yasumoto sensei taught from the beginning, including Mugai Ryu Iaido, Hontai Takagi Yoshin Ryu, Takagi Ryu, and Kukishin Ryu Bojutsu techniques.
In 2025, I discussed this with Yasumoto Soke and colleagues, and we made the decision to create a new association to preserve the original teachings of Yasumoto Soke.
Yasumoto Soke then issued a letter authorising the formation of this Association, and he proposed that the association would be called the Kokusai Shinden Motoha Yoshin Ryu Jujutsu Renmei or International Shinden Motoha Yoshin Ryu Jujutsu Association. Giving emphasis to the word `Shinden’ meaning ‘true transmission’ as this is what Soke originally wanted to convey to his close students. After this authorisation, and in discussion with International Menkyo Kaidensha, the ‘Shinden Motoha Yoshin Ryu International Association’ was formed. Also note that the Japanese name is Shinden Motoha Yoshin Ryu Kokusai Renmei, and we are proud to have Yasumoto Soke as the Honourary President.

It is important to say that this does not mean that Motoha Yoshin Ryu members who are not part of this association are not legitimate within the Motoha Yoshin Ryu, and surely there will be people who will continue their development outside of this organisation, and of course this is their right. It is my wish that we will have great relationships with other Motoha Yoshin Ryu members and to openly share the techniques taught by Yasumoto Soke.
As we formed the Association the Menkyo Kaidensha collectively decided that I should the first President of the Association. It is my wish in the future that other Menkyo Kaiden members will also take a turn serving as President.
Lastly, I would like to emphasise once again that our association is open to any interested person or organisation wishing to join us in learning, preserving, and developing traditional Japanese Jujutsu.
Evgeny Radishevsky, President
Shinden Motoha Yoshin Ryu Jujutsu International Association
