INSTRUCTOR RANK QUALIFICATIONS
TEACHING LICENSES
The organisation has two teaching ranks: Shidoin (Instructor) and Shihan (Senior Instructor).
SHIDOIN MENKYO
This license gives the holder (who must be a current Association member) the right to certify their students up to the rank of 1 kyu inclusive (in agreement with their senior Menkyo Kaiden). To be eligible for this license, the technical rank of Sandan must have been received, and the applicant has a group of at least 10 students who have already received kyu ranks.
The applicant must undergo a special instructor seminar and receive an instructor’s brochure (Shidoin Kekasho).
SHIHAN MENKYO
This license gives the holder ‘who must be a current Association member’ the right to certify its students for the ranks of shodan-ho and shodan (in agreement with the Menkyo Kaidens). If you have the title renshi, this license allows you to assign nidan, if you have the title kyoshi it allows you to assign sandan, if you have the title hanshi it allows you to assign yondan.
To be eligible for this license, the applicant must hold rank of Godan and have a group of at least 5 students who have already received yudansha ranks.
TITLES
When instructors have made a significant contribution to the development of the school the assignment of the titles Renshi, Kyoshi, and Hanshi are awarded. For example many branches, schools, publications in the press, progressive teaching methods, organising systems at conferences, etc.
RENSHI
The minimum rank for application is Rokudan, and the applicant must have promoted at least 10 students to yudansha level and have at at least one Shidoin grade student.
KYOSHI
The minimum rank for application is Nanadan. The applicant must supervise at least two dojos run by his Shidoin Menkyo certified students and have at least one student of Godan rank or above.
HANSHI
The minimum rank for application is Hachidan. The applicant must supervise at least three dojos run by his Shidoin Menkyo certified students and have at least three students of Godan rank or above.
MENKYO KAIDEN
This is the highest level of license with full transmission.

PRESIDENT
The office of President is a position of authority that issues and signs official documents issued from the association, e.g. teaching licenses.
In the event that a motion is not carried by a majority vote of the Directors then the President has the casting vote.
DIRECTORS
The directors are the Menkyo Kaiden who steer the association. .
Honourary President and Director positions are valued advisors who do not have administrative duties.
NOTES:
Licenses are only valid with current Shinden Motoha Yoshin Ryu International Association membership. All instructors must be current Association members for them to exercise the privilege of the license granted by the Association, and all candidates for rank tests or licenses must also hold a current Shinden Motoha Yoshin Ryu International Association membership.
